Dermaplaning
Smooth. Brighten. Glow.
What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a gentle, non-invasive exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile professional blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine facial hair, often called peach fuzz. The result is smoother, softer, more radiant-looking skin with a fresh, polished finish.
This treatment is ideal before a special event, as part of a regular skincare routine, or whenever your complexion needs a boost. By clearing away surface buildup, dermaplaning can also help makeup apply more smoothly and allow skincare products to absorb more effectively.
Dermaplaning can help with:
Dull, dry, or rough-looking skin
Fine facial hair or peach fuzz
Uneven-looking texture
The appearance of superficial acne scarring
Makeup that settles unevenly
A lack of radiance or glow
Frequently Asked Questions
For personalized answers to your questions, please book a complementary consultation and we will address your concerns together.
-
Dermaplaning is generally painless. Most clients feel only a light, gentle scraping sensation as the sterile blade moves across the skin.
-
No. Dermaplaning removes soft vellus hair from the surface of the skin and does not change the hair follicle, colour, thickness, or rate of hair growth. When it grows back, it will feel the same as it did before treatment.
-
There is little to no downtime, and most clients return to their regular activities immediately. Some temporary redness or sensitivity can occur, especially if your skin is naturally reactive.
-
Skin often feels smooth and looks brighter immediately after dermaplaning. Results generally last about three to four weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle and the regrowth of fine facial hair.
-
Many clients schedule dermaplaning about once a month for consistent results. Your SkinDiva provider can recommend the ideal frequency based on your skin type, goals, and home-care routine.
-
Your provider may recommend allowing your skin to rest after treatment so it can benefit from the finishing skincare products. If you do wear makeup, apply it gently and use clean brushes or applicators.
-
Dermaplaning may be postponed if you have active inflamed acne, a skin infection, open lesions, sunburn, or significant irritation. Let your provider know about any skin conditions, medications, or recent treatments during your consultation so they can confirm whether it is appropriate for you.
Your Experience at SkinDiva
Your treatment begins with a cleanse and skin assessment. Using light, precise strokes, your SkinDiva provider gently glides a sterile blade across the skin to remove fine hair and dead surface cells, followed by nourishing skincare selected for your complexion.
Dermaplaning is generally comfortable and often feels like a gentle brushing or close shave across the skin. Most treatments take approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the service and any added skincare steps.
Aftercare & Results
Your skin may look immediately brighter and feel exceptionally smooth following treatment. Mild temporary pinkness or sensitivity is possible, particularly for sensitive skin, but there is typically little to no downtime.
Protect your fresh skin with daily broad-spectrum SPF, and avoid scrubs, exfoliating acids, retinoids, and other active products for the period recommended by your provider. For ongoing glow and smoothness, dermaplaning is often scheduled every three to four weeks.
